Once I ditched the diet mentality trying to lose weight just became so much easier.
What is a diet mentality?
when you do it for the short term just to drop a few pounds, a quick fix
a quick fix that turns into another yo-yo diet because you end up gaining the weight back
when you feel deprived, restricted, starved
you cut out certain foods and vow to never eat them
when food is the enemy and you fear eating certain things
when you think 100 calorie snack pacts & low fat are the way to go
when you cut out entire food groups in an attempt to drop the weight quickly
when you view it as “I can’t have this or that”
Ditch the Diet MentalityOnce I stopped doing it because I hated my body and I started doing it because I cared about myself and love my body because we only get this one life, this one body, this one chance to live his life and I want to take care of it so that I can live it fully with no regrets, it became so much easier.
Once I stopped viewing exercise as something I hated something that was torture and instead started viewing it as something that I needed to do to take care of my body, it all became so much easier.
When I stopped viewing food as a restriction and something that I feared because I was too worried about messing up or eating the wrong things and started viewing it as nourishment for my body and giving it what it needs so that I feel good.
I view it as taking care of myself and replacing that bad choice with a healthy choice that’s good for my body and makes me feel better.
I’m not saying that it’s always easy. I’m not saying that those processed sugary foods don’t still taste good. But when you know that the alternative is poor health, poor energy, feeling like shit then you make a choice and most times I choose not to feel like shit so I make the healthy choice. I still eat the things I shouldn’t but all in moderation!
But by realizing that choosing something healthier has a long-term benefits, makes me feel so much better and more confident. This became so much easier!! So it was all in a mindset shift! I am not on a diet, I don’t deprive myself, I don’t’ starve myself. I live and enjoy my life but in a healthier way!!
