So what is style? And do we really need our own style?
Now granted we don’t really need our own style but as I get older I care about how I look. Don’t get me wrong I always have before but now it’s different. Now I take great care of taking care of me, I workout, I eat healthy, I care about my well-being. I can finally say that I have found a love for myself and I feel comfortable in my own body.
So with that said I care about my style somewhat!! I don’t’ think I will ever look like the cover of style magazine or anything but I care about what I buy and what I am wearing. I know longer just go shopping just to buy something I have to love it and love how it makes me feel when I wear it. So for me its more about the feeling not what anyone thinks of it! If it makes me feel beautiful, confident and ready to take on the world, well okay maybe just the town!, then that is when I buy it!!
The definition of style from the dictionary doesn’t really resonate with me. I think for me it means:
Style – a mode of fashion, how we dress in a way that makes us feel good, beautiful, and confident.
I found this blog post that talks about how we can find our own style and a go-to signature style.
Rachel Zoe helps you define your style –
Individual style has little to do with who can collect the most expensive designer bags or ankle boots. Anyone can put together an amazing look, even on a budget. All you need is a go-to signature style.
My first tip is to look to anyone whose style you admire. Peruse your icon’s fashion habits. Look to see if you have similar pieces in your wardrobe. It’s so much easier to shop once you know exactly what you need!
Another suggestion: Figure out your fashion comfort zone. We tend to buy the same piece over and over because it’s safe and familiar (tailored jackets are my happy place). But you need to determine if your staples work for you: Try them on in front of a full-length mirror and truthfully assess how they look, how they work within your wardrobe, and how you feel in them.
Once you have your look down, you can build a wardrobe that embodies your signature style—and edit out the pieces that don’t complement your fashion persona.

Now I don’t feel like I particularly fit into any of these categories! I guess I have to find my adjective that best describes me!
I feel like I’m edgy meets comfort meets modern!!!
Here is another great article I found, it’s a style quiz:
What’s Your Style?
As fabulous women, we’re attracted to certain trends and styles that make our own personal style unique. But how can we define our style when it’s so specific to us? Take this quiz and find out what type of styles you’re most drawn to. Whether you’re an animal print lover or a white tee lover, this quiz will show what type of fashion you truly love most.
So I took the quiz and here was my answer:
Modern Chic You’re a style presence that’s hard to ignore! Not only are you a go-getter in the real world, but your sharp and savvy style show it well.
Hmmm… Modern Chic ~ I love it!
So they go on to say: ” If your style icon has been Victoria Beckham all of your life and your own style reflects hers, then you are the epitome of a modern chic gal. You’re not loud with clothes, but you always look put together while executing impeccable chicness. You love structure in an outfit, but you also love a comfy black v-neck tee. ”
I’ve never really had a style icon. To tell you the truth I never really go into style and fashion too much because if you’ve followed my health & fitness journey, then you know that I hated my body, I wasn’t confident, I struggled with body image issues & insecurities for so long that I never thought I was good enough to worry too much about what my style was. But now after finally taking care of myself, choosing to live MY life, I feel incredible, finally accepting myself, find love for myself and have found that confidence I’ve always longed for. So I’ve put so much care into getting myself to this point that I want to take care in how I feel on the inside reflects on the outside and with that comes how I dress and present myself to life!
Do the clothes matter? I mean if we really feel good about ourselves, do the clothes matter? In my opinion, I really think they do. When I put something cute on, throw on a little makeup and fix my hair, I feel amazing, I feel confident, I feel good about myself and this is the feeling I want to have. When I have a day where I throw on whatever or wear the yoga pants or whatever. On theses days I don’t feel as good, I feel more tired, just blah. Make sense?
part of taking care of ourselves is throwing on a cute outfit and a little make-up, it makes us feel good
Confidence is a feeling that we cultivate by choosing to take care of ourselves!
