Okay so its Friday the beginning of the weekend. Its usually a time we can relax a little and maybe you’re thinking of relaxing on how great you’ve been doing with your progress. Like maybe you’re thinking its the weekend it will be okay to splurge a little… This is a big mistake you can ruin how all your hard work through the week on the weekend and then wake up Monday morning right where you started! I did this for years it was like being on a hamster wheel, lose a couple pounds gain it back on the weekend.. trust me there is nothing worth eating that is worth this torture to yourself, it was terrible a constant battle.
So stick to your plan like its a weekday, no different.. Sunday maybe be your rest day or active recovery day from your workout but squeeze in a walk or something else you enjoy!!
You can enjoy a treat, just plan for it!! Everything in moderation, still use portion control!!
So no excuses you can still enjoy the weekend, in healthy way and not sabotage your success so far!
Weekend Tips to Stay on Track and not Sabotage your Success:
Treat the weekend like a weekday
Go into the weekend with a healthy mindset: Go into the weekend thinking you are going to stay on track, you’re more likely to actually stick with your plan that way!
Plan ahead – Go over your weekend plans and think about them in advance. Don’t go STARVING to that party! If you’re going away, do a little food prepping of healthy snacks to bring with you.
If your going to a party ~ again plan ahead~ if you know there won’t be healthy options there, then eat before you go so you aren’t tempted. Pack some almonds so you aren’t munching on the chips. Keep a bottle of water in your hands so your hands are full and you aren’t able to load up on the snacks! But I understand its a birthday everything in moderation so enjoy a slice of cake but very small! You still want to be able to enjoy indulgences in life but balance & moderation are key!! And we can celebrate with out food!!
Going out for dinner ~ look up the menu ahead of time (most have them online now) so you get there with a plan or choose a different restaurant. There are plenty of restaurants that offer healthier options now; look for words like steamed, broiled, steer clear of words like creamy, fried; skip the bread basket.
Limit your cocktails ~ wasted calories can really add up!! so choice a cocktail with less calories, you don’t want to pick a frozen daiquiri or anything like that! drink water between cocktails
Wake up and do your workouts!!
Take any time you have extra a plan the next week ahead, or look for healthier recipes you would like to try for the upcoming week. or try a new recipe on the weekend.
Treat yourself occasionally throughout the week: If you never let yourself having anything you want, you may end up eating it ALL when you let yourself (for many, that’s the weekend). So, have that treat, that glass of wine, or that piece of dark chocolate mid-week, and don’t feel guilty about it! It’ll pay off in the end.
Be realistic: It’s the weekend! Enjoy yourself. Have that glass of wine and the meal out with friends that you’ve been craving, but be smart, watch your portions and limit your drinks (you definitely don’t need to reach for that bread basket)! Moderation is key.
Splurge in a healthy way: “What a long week, I totally deserve a splurge!” Indeed. You may feel like you need a bit of a splurge, and by all means, go for it! But make your splurge healthy. How about treating yourself to a massage rather than that box of cookies? Or some air-popped pop corn over a bag of chips. Or time to yourself to read a book or watch a movie.
Don’t let one set back keep you from moving forward: So, you indulge a little too much one weekend, does that mean your whole plan goes out the window come Monday? No! Pick up where you left off. Detox your body with tons of water, and get past it! Beating yourself up and feeling guilty actually make it worse, you get stressed it releases stress hormone cortisol and makes it that much harder to lose weight
Enjoy the weekend!! You can still enjoy it, stay on track and just think how great you will feel for not over indulging!!
